CityWalk at Universal Orlando hosts one of the nine locations of well-known donut chain Voodoo Doughnut (another is at CityWalk Hollywood). I am very into donuts, and they seem to be having a moment right now- if you need proof of this, go to Target and check out donuts on shirts, socks, pillows, and other stuff, as well as food that is not donuts being made to look like donuts (such a cookies and cereals).
The inside of this establishment is super bright and funky. The line was pretty long (we went about 10pm) but there was so much to look at inside, and it moved pretty quick. There is a case in the middle of the shop with all of the donuts in it so you have the chance to think about what you wanna order before you get up to the counter, which is nice! They also have a ton of cute merch like shirts and mugs, and magnets (one of which I now have on my fridge).
There’s that iconic pink box! I feel like the smaller but deeper box is easier to hold than a traditional, skinnier and longer, donut box, but it was kind of annoying that my donuts were stacked on top of one another. For ref, I got a half dozen. I couldn’t get a cute picture of all of them in the box and some got a little junked up, even though I was holding it carefully while walking and then taking a bus. But I do have to say, it is a cute and instantly recognizable box!

I first tried the classic Voodoo Doll. This was actually my favorite! I love a yeasty donut and the raspberry jam in it was perfectly tart. The pretzel stick stake is like, a cute idea, and it’s just for decoration, so I won’t include it in the flavor profile of the donut lol. And without including it, I’d call this 10/10!

Ok. This lil heart-shaped Earth donut is super adorable so I had to get it (even after I asked what it was and was told that it was full of lemon and orange cream- I don’t hate lemon, I do hate orange). I couldn’t remember the name of it and it’s not on Voodoo’s or CityWalk’s website, so I scrolled through Instagram for quite a few minutes trying to find it. Someone posted a video of the bakery case and this one didn’t have a name label below it, so maybe it just doesn’t have a name. REGARDLESS, this surprised me! Raised yeast donuts are my favorite so I was excited for that aspect of it, but nervous about other aspects- as I mentioned, I hate orange and this had some orange flavor. When eating this, though, I got way more of a creamy lemon taste, like lemon curd folded into whipped cream with like, a teeny hint of a hint of orange. I liked it a lot! It was a cute balance of bright and sweet. Would get again.

I thought it’d be a good idea to try one of every kind of donut, even though I will not hide my preference for the raised yeast variety. The old fashioned donut that spoke to me most clearly was this Chocolate Old Fashioned. Tasted just like it looks like it would taste! Yum!

Next (and last- boo!) I tried the Sprinkle Cake, to try a cake donut as well. Cake donuts aren’t my favorite and this wasn’t really an exception to that. Cake donuts are best to have with coffee or milk, as they are pretty dry. I also wanted this to taste birthday cake-y but it was just plain cake with sprinkles. She wasn’t bad though and she was definitely pretty, so I do not regret taking her for a spin. She didn’t wow me, though.
Above are the donuts my boyfriend Jon got. I would not ever be into either of them, as I don’t eat bacon and don’t enjoy peanut butter. But he liked them! And that’s what matters. Left is a Maple Bacon Bar, classic, and right is actually listed on the CityWalk menu as “No Name Doughnut.” I’m not sure whether that is to indicate that the donut has no name, or that the donuts name is truly “No Name Doughnut.” Either way lol, it’s a yeast donut with chocolate frosting, rice crispies, and a peanut butter drizzle, which I’m sure sounds very good to a lot of people.

I’m glad we visited this shop! It is super super cute. Some of the donuts were awesome, and some were not my favorite. It’s not my number one donut shop I’ve ever been to in terms of how much I liked the donuts, but, it is number one in terms of funkiness which I think should count for something. It does get bonus points for this amazing Doughnut Throne photo op though, I would say!
