We are in a weird time. For sure. Americans haven’t really experienced anything like this before- places where crowds gather closing, lots of stores closing, sitting down at restaurants being temporarily banned, being discouraged from going out, even to a store, unless necessary… it is weird and not something we’re used to. It is for the best, though. And I know most everyone is hearing or thinking about this more than they’re hearing or thinking about anything else right now, so I won’t say any more on it. However, I may post a few things about keeping busy, keeping your mind off things, and continuing to eat good food, because I think those things may be helpful! Especially if this continues.
I think all of that is relevant because people may be getting carryout/drive-thru food more often if they no longer have the option to sit down at restaurants and may not be going to work at this time. I personally have just been eating at home for a few days now, and plan on not going out for at least another week. But if you gotta hit a drive-thru, you gotta hit a drive-thru, and a couple of weeks ago I did just that, and tried Wendy’s breakfast!

First things first is the drinks! I had a black cold brew, which I was pleasantly surprised by! It was smooth and sweet. Some cold brews, especially from fast food spots and gas stations, can taste a little stale or bitter and be hard to drink. This was actually delicious, which I really appreciate considering how affordable and easy to get it is!
My boyfriend tried the mocha frostyccino, which is honestly a very cute idea. It’s not as chocolatey as you’d expect something called mocha to be. It’s also not very sweet, but whether that is a good or bad thing depends on your preference. Not bad, and probably worth trying if you’re interested, but I’d actually recommend the black cold brew over the frostyccino!

I got the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. I liked it! And I love a fast food breakfast option that avoids red meat. Those are rare! It was tasty but not incredibly flavorful. I kind of wish there was another element to this, though I don’t have any suggestions for what that might be. I did see a reviewer on Instagram comment that they wish they would’ve asked for more honey butter, and I think I feel the same way.

Here is the star of the menu, the Breakfast Baconator. My boyfriend had this one, and he did love it. I just asked him to recap his thoughts for me, and he said “it was perfect.” There is a lot of meat going on for sure, but if you like the flavors of bacon and sausage together in one breakfast sandwich, by all means, give it a shot! I’d also assume it more filling than the average fast food breakfast sandwich, since it obviously contains more protein and fat than a just bacon or just sausage breakfast sandwich.

We also each got an order of Breakfast Potatoes. These were so goooood! Very well seasoned and crispy. We both voiced a wish that these would join the regular menu, as well. They remind me a lot of the KFC potato wedges, just smaller.
I’m so glad Wendy’s has brought back breakfast, and I think they’ve done very well! It doesn’t replace Einstein Bro’s or even Dunkin in terms of menu variety, portion size, and food quality, but they do have some really tasty and unique offerings that are fast and easy to grab on your way somewhere.
