I Got a Cannoli at Carlo’s Bake Shop!

Or I should say, to keep things clear, I got a cannoli at Carlo’s bake shop like three months ago. Before the chaos and the temporary closings of stores and malls. This is the location in The Florida Mall, which is currently closed. We went to Orlando (to visit Universal, see posts here, here, and here!) and when I saw there was a Carlo’s Bake Shop, of the super entertaining TLC show Cake Boss, I had to stop by for cannoli. (I love cannoli).

Also in The Florida mall was an M&M’s World store, which I also stopped into. :p I also visited that store on a family Orlando vacation as a kid, so it was a necessary stop for nostalgia reasons.

This store was small and near the food court. It’s so cute even though it’s not huge, and there are tons of sweets everywhere. When I go back I 100% need to get a lobster tail and a slice of rainbow cake, which seem to be the most popular bakery case treats, according to the Carlo’s chain’s own Instagram.

We got enough cannoli to keep eating them for like five days. By the end of that they were still super tasty, but the shell had gotten a little soft. For that reason I’d say they’re best when they’re very fresh! Taste like a standard cannoli with chocolate chips in the filling. The filling was very nice and perfectly spiced, with the warm cinnamon standing out. It was heavy on the mascarpone, which made them delicious but definitely not too sweet. Perfect with a latte or just black coffee, if you ask me.

I absolutely intend on visiting Carlo’s again, for more cannoli and for the other treats I mentioned. I’d love to stop by other locations- particularly the flagship, when Eastern NJ, NYC, and the surrounding areas heal from this crisis.
