I heard that today is National Roller Coaster Day! It’s a bit late in the day, but I’m still gonna post my favorite roller coaster at every amusement park that I’ve been to. Most pics are not my own, but they’ll be credited! If you don’t see a source below a photo, it’s mine. Now for the rides! They’re in no particular order.
At Universal Studios Hollywood – Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride

It was very tough to pick a favorite ride here, it’s such a big park! But there are not many actual ROLLER COASTERS. Regardless, Mummy is so beautifully themed and is very thrilling- the storyline is scary, the theming is scary, and the track is intense. I did like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey if you were wondering about that, of course, but I’m not sure this counts as a roller coaster, AND it can honestly be a bit rough. If you come too close to one of the screens on Forbidden Journey or just aren’t in the best seat, the scenes can appear a bit warped or blurry and that kinda makes me dizzy.
At Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park – Seven Dwarfs’ Mine Train

Omg this ride is so insanely fun. It’s not the most intense/thrilling ride, but it goes fast, is super smooth, and is seriously fun. It’s very richly themed- the inside of the mine is covered in brightly colored gemstones and it’s amazing. We rode at night and it was magical. Above is a pic of Jon and I having a blast on it! With some other folks whose faces have been covered by orbs, for their privacy of course. (If you want, you can read more about my most recent Disney trip here or here).
At Cedar Point – GateKeeper

This ride has a very scary lift hill, especially if you’re on the left side which is directly over the Lake lol. It’s tall and fast (170 ft and 65 MPH) and very smooth. The ride is super thrilling, and gives the sensation of twisting and turning to avoid obstacles while flying. Fun!
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Expedition Everest

I know it’s the only roller coaster in Animal Kingdom, but this really is a great ride! It has such immersive theming and has great views, as well as some surprising moments in the ride.
At Universal Studios Florida – Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

This is for real a beautiful ride. The theming is EXCELLENT and the queue is gorgeous, especially the lobby of the bank. This ride tells a full story, and all of the technology involved is amazing. It’s just SO GOOD! And hey- if you wanna read any more about my most recent trip to Universal Orlando, you can click right here.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Slinky Dog Dash

This might be controversial, because Rock n Roller Coaster exists. I do love Rock n Roller Coaster! But omg I’ve probably never in my life had more fun than I had on Slinky Dog Dash. I absolutely love Toy Story, it was my favorite franchise as a kid, and the theming of Toy Story Land is so adorable and magical. In the shot above you can see the best part of the ride- three little bunny hills in rapid succession that make you feel like you yourself are a slinky. Amazing.
At Kings Island – Backlot Stunt Coaster

I think this is the last coaster left at Kings Island that still feels like a movie-themed ride. Kings Island was just better back in the Paramount days, I can’t lie or even omit that fact. This ride is motivated by stunts and you do all kindsa crazy stuff in this little car. It’s really fast, but it’s not very tall so even when I was younger I didn’t find it too super scary. 🙂
At Universal Studio’s Florida – Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

I’m sorry to put two Wizarding World rides on this list but they’re both just SO GOOD. These lands are so immersive and just next-level. They’ve lowkey changed the theme park game and deserve recognition. The theme parks made me fall in love with the Harry Potter world and made me want to read the books- not the other way around! In the books even moreso than the movies, Hagrid is absolutely an icon. Would die for the worlds sweetest half-giant. ANYWAY this feels like actually riding a motorbike, it’s so smooth and fast, the track takes you by surprise, and the animatronics are amazing!
Has anyone reading this been on these rides? Do you share any of my thoughts?! I can’t wait to visit more parks, ride even more rides, and have new faves to share for National Roller Coaster Day next year. 🙂
