Over-Rated Theme Park Snacks :/

I love theme park food. Obviously! And I’d wager a bet you do too. However… not every offering is a smash hit.

Here are a few snacks and treats, at Walt Disney World and Universal, that I think are less worth it than others.

First up is the highly-rated Central Park Crepes in Universal Studios Florida. I’ve really only heard positive reviews of these. I tried the seasonal offering, a crepe filled with raspberries, passionfruit cream, red velvet cake, and streusel. It sounds like this weird assortment of flavors is going to be the reason I’m not into this stand, but that’s not it! I actually liked the weird assortment of flavors!

My issue with these is that they are really hard to eat. They’re messy AND hard to actually get through. There is soooo much filling, and it’s filled really unevenly. It’s also hard to believe this is meant to be a hand-held snack, because of how messy and uneven the filling is, leaving you kinda unsure where to bite in. The crepe itself was really doughy and chewy, so the whole thing was kind of a lot. I miiight be interested in trying a savory crepe some day, but I’m imaging a kind of burrito except you only get one type of filling per bite and the tortilla is thick, chewy and sweet. Not too sure about it!

Next, unfortunately, is the Lunch Box Tart from Woody’s Lunch Box (in Disney’s Hollywood Studios)! I was so beyond excited to try this, because this, and I picked up the apple cinnamon Holiday version. I wish I took a picture of the inside, because the tiny sliver of filling was the biggest problem here. The crust, rather than tart crust like you’d expect, was two dry sugar cookies, and there was not enough filling to compensate for that, so the main actual flavor components were average-quality vanilla sugar cookie and… red food coloring. This one hurt me.

Another famous Disney snack, this is the Tiger Tail from Isle of Java in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It has a twin, the EXTREMELY famous Cheshire Cat Tail from Cheshire Café in Magic Kingdom Park, that I wrote about wanting to try (they’re the same treat with different icing colors). Now, I am not saying there is anything wrong with this- except that it’s overhyped. Plenty of folks have touted this as a must-get, so despite it’s description as a croissant with chocolate chips and icing, I was really expecting something unique and amazing. But it’s literally just a chocolate croissant with some icing, and the icing didn’t really add a lot. I’d recommend something more unique for your Disney snack, for sure, because you can get pretty much this same thing nearly anywhere.

I’m throwing it back to Universal for this last one, though I think it only half counts. This is a chicken salad sandwich from Bread Box at Universal City Walk. I could totally attribute this to the particular sandwich I ordered or that it was almost closing time. This wasn’t very flavorful and the meat wasn’t very tender, so I would be hesitant to get this sandwich again. However, the potato barrels were good and people speak pretty fondly of this spot. For those reasons, I think I’m likely to try it again.

A little sprinkle of light negativity can be healthy sometimes. I think they say something like, without dark there is no light, right? Without mediocre food, really delicious food doesn’t shine as bright! It all has to be relative.

These snacks are also very popular, and I’m aware that plenty of people totally love them. If you do, I still luv you. It’s ok. I hope you still luv me too, and if you haven’t tried any of these, I hope my thoughts are helpful as you plan the menu for your next trip!
